He holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology and brings more than eight years of experience in environmental science, industrial operations, and regulatory permitting.
Since joining Coastal Watch Association in 2023, Payton has played a key role in expanding the organization’s air and water monitoring programs, providing technical expertise on industrial permits, and translating complex scientific data into actionable information for communities and decision-makers.
His expertise includes air and water quality monitoring, industrial permitting, geology, pipeline infrastructure, emissions analysis, and environmental data interpretation. He has collaborated with partners including the University of Texas at Arlington’s air monitoring program, Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi’s STAGES Program, and the Texas State Aquarium on community water monitoring initiatives. His work combines rigorous scientific analysis with community engagement to help residents better understand environmental risks and participate in regulatory decisions.
He has also been featured by KRIS 6 News for his work highlighting endangered species findings and continues to advocate for science-based solutions that protect both environmental resources and public health.
